Attention all Fathers and Father-figures!.

Kindergarten through 6th Grade is an important and exciting time for our children for many reasons, and we need Watch D.O.G.S.®  (Dads of Great Students) to be a part of these experiences.  Watch D.O.G.S. takes no special training or secret handshakes, just a desire to be involved with our children's lives, and to make a difference as a positive role model in the educational setting.

Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school. During the day, Watch D.O.G.S. may read and work on flash cards with kids, play at recess, eat lunch with their child, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, mentor students, and assist with any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their child(ren), but other students as well.

WATCH D.O.G.S. is an innovative program of the National Center for Fathering focusing on prevention of violence in our nation’s schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures.  The goal is to have men spend at least one day a year at the school to be an extra set of eyes and ears, and to be a positive male role model.

Who are WATCH D.O.G.S.?  Fathers / Father-figures, Step Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Brothers (21 or older), Teacher’s family (sons, husbands, fiancé), Civic Organizations (Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.), Civil Servants (Police, Fire), or Corporate Partners.

WATCH D.O.G.S. benefit in many ways.  WATCH D.O.G.S. get a glimpse of students’ everyday world, gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they can have on students’ lives (academics, self esteem, social behavior), and receive smiles and high fives in the hallway.
